Not so simple sewing

I haven't used my sewing machine since Christmas, so I figured it was time to pull it out again...too bad I lost all my sewing skills (not that I had much to start with).  I was working on a few handmade gifts for a dear friend of mine who will be having baby girl in just a few weeks.  The plan was to make an 'on-the-go' diaper changing pad & a few cute burp cloths.  The changing pad ended up being far more difficult than I anticipated.  I tried all sorts different ways to make it work & took out stitching at least 10 times (no joke).  Eventually, after wasting a lot of cute fabric, I had a presentable end product...only problem was that after all the 'fixing', it continued to shrink & I ended up with a changing pad sized perfectly for a small doll.  Needless to say, I won't be giving that to my friend.  Thankfully, I did complete a few cute items to add to her mother-to-be gift...
